When it comes to skincare simplicity is key, no matter what the Ethnicity.
We often hear the saying “Black Don’t Crack”, but that’s far from the truth. Melanated skin can and will begin to dry out, become dull, and eventually begin to crack and sag if it isn’t nurtured properly.
Here are 5 tips to begin your journey in helping nourish your melanated skin:
Start from the inside, begin drinking water in the morning, afternoon, and at night. Detox from the inside and watch how it helps your skin transform.
Use makeup remover
to remove your makeup, cleanse, and tone your skin. Never ever sleep in your makeup. Be sure that your pillow case is clean.
If you’re not sure and can’t clean it, just throw a white clean towel over the pillow….this protects your skin.
Wash your face every morning and at night. Be sure to never use colored towels, instead use clean white towels to use on your face. Colored towels can harm your beautiful skin.
Protect your skin by using SP15 products. There is a belief that Black skin’s melanin provides natural protection from the sun’s UV rays. It doesn’t. There’s simply not enough melanin in our skin to completely ward off the threat of skin cancer, no matter how dark your skin may be. Always use SUNSCREEN!
Don’t stress, and remember that you’re blessed. Stress will do all kinds of weird things to your skin. Breakouts are the most common when you begin to stress. Take time to relax, self care is so important.
